About Town

Hat: J.Crew (similar here) // Coat: J.Crew (really on sale!) // Pants: Zara (similar here) // Blouse: Zara // Shoes: Schutz // Ring: David Yurman // Bag: Umberto, Florence (Similar here) // Lips: Bobbi Brown

Happy Wednesday! Menswear just feels cool. It is like the difference between cologne and perfume, sometimes you don't want to be sweet, but rather striking and bold. Menswear does that, and the effect is empowering. But as soon as I head for the indoors, my ensemble underneath is decidedly feminine with a floaty organza printed top, leather pants, and pumps. I love a good contrast! I hope everyone has a great rest of the week, and thanks as always for reading.

Luxe

Skirt: ASOS // Top: Target (similar here) // Coat: Vintage (similar faux version here) // Bag: Maya // Ring: David Yurman // Sunnies: Karen Walker // Shoes: Steven by Steve Madden (similar here) // Lips: Nars 'Viva Las Vegas'

Happy Monday everyone! I love minimalistic style. Simple and clean shapes in luxurious textures like leather can really elevate the average crop-top skirt pairing. Also a simple color palette, little to no jewelry, and a rich fur play into achieving a chic yet understated ensemble. Not to mention, I love how this fur looks like a cape when draped over my shoulders. Oscar Wilde said it best when it comes to the little luxuries in life: "I am a man of simple tastes, I am always satisfied with the best." Have a great rest of the week, and thank you for stopping by!

In her boots

Boots: Stuart Weitzman // Shorts: TopShop // Shirt: Madewell (old, similar here) // Sweater: J.Crew  (old, similar here) // Coat: J.Crew // Sunnies: RayBan // Ring: David Yurman // Lips: Hourglass in Riviera

Hello Everyone! Last weekend one of my favorite friends, and fellow blogger Lauren came to visit me in Oxford. Every once in a while we are blessed with friends in our lives that make us the best version of ourselves. Well, Lauren is one of those friends. I can always count on her to give me great advice, tell it to me straight, and most importantly (and graciously) let me borrow her beloved Stuart Weitzman 5050 boots. Yes, these beauties are on loan. Their soft nappa leather makes them amazingly comfortable, and I can now see why there is so much hype surrounding these gorgeous boots. I have made up my mind that they are totally worth the splurge.  So, here is to a great weekend with great friends, especially great friends who wear the same size shoe. Have a wonderful rest of the week and thanks for stopping by! Oh, I almost forgot, check out Lauren's blog Sunshades & Snowflakes here

Layered Lady

Dress worn as skirt: Tibi (last seen here) // Peplum Shirt: Sheinside (old, similar here) // Belt: J.Crew (old, similar here) // Coat: Zara // Boots: J.Crew // Bag: Celine // Sunnies: Karen Walker // Bracelets: David Yurman // Watch: Michael Kors

Happy Tuesday! This time of year, I start to feel like I am in a winter wardrobe rut. To keep from getting bored with my cold weather clothes, I am always looking for ways to reinvent my favorite pieces. The skirt of this dress has such a great shape that it stood alone well layered with a peplum top. I also loved how the dramatic tweed of the top, and subtle textured print of the dress created an interesting mix of prints. Not to mention, layering the two pieces made this knit dress even warmer than usual. Boom, I feel like I have a brand new dress! I hope everyone has wonderful short week (thanks to MLK day) and thank you as always for reading.

Resort DayDreaming

Resort 2014

3. & 4. Gold Rings (thin & thick)

Hello Everyone! It is that time of year again: fashion limbo. Designer resort collections are filling the stores, and the Spring lines are on the horizon. Yet, for those of us who are not jetting off to a tropical destination, it is the dead of winter. I must admit it is hard to restrain buying that new bikini, or cute coverup when I will not be able to wear it for months. But I guess there is nothing wrong with a little vacation daydreaming (or Spring Break pre-planning)! And there is always nail polish and jewelry... which works even though it is 30 degrees outside. Have a great rest of the week and thank you for reading!

Downtown Safari

Bracelets: c/o Bourbon and Boweties // Coat: Topshop (similar here and love, love this one here) // Leather Jacket: Zara (similar here) // Chambray: Madewell // Jeans: JBrand (similar here) // Shoes: Steven by Steve Madden (similar here) // Bag: Forever 21 (Similar here)// Watch: Michael Kors // Sunnies: RayBan // Nail Polish: Deborah Lippmann 'Don't Tell Mama" // Ring: David Yurman // Lips: Revlon Kissable Balm Stain in 'Rendezvous'

Happy Monday everyone! In the South, the downtown square is mostly quiet and nowhere near as "wild" as the epicenter of a big city. However, unlike their surroundings, Southern girls are anything but quiet... and they are definitely not afraid of a loud animal print or a healthy dose of jewelry. With that being said I am so pleased to share with all of you Bourbon and Boweties, a jewelry brand straight out of my home state of Florida.

Bourbon and Boweties are handmade stackable statement bangles adorned with everything from natural stones to faceted baubles. They are perfect to wear alone or to supplement a tried and true bracelet stack. I have to say, I am little addicted to them already...  I love how they look layered with my watch. Check out their Facebook page here for more information. Have a great week and thank you as always for reading!

Dark Prep

Skirt: Tibi (similar and less expensive here) // Shirt: J.Crew  (On Sale)// Sweater: Outnet // Socks: American Apparel // Coat: J.Crew (on sale) // Shoes: Vince Camuto // Bag: Forever 21 (old but similar here on sale) // / Bracelets: J.Crew and David Yurman // Ring: David Yurman // Watch: Michael Kors // Sunnies: Karen Walker

In my most natural form of personal style, I am a prep. However, being preppy is not what it used to be with pearls, cardigan sets, and penny loafers. Preppy style can be modern and chic simply by finding traditional pieces with unexpected details. A leather pleated skirt, a jeweled collar on a white button down, and a bright peacoat lend a fashion forward perspective to silhouettes that have stood the test of time. I hope everyone has a great rest of their week, stay warm, and thank you for reading!
