Fall Mix: Flannel and Leopard

Happy Tuesday everyone! The cool fall weather has officially arrived in Oxford thanks to a cold front over the weekend. I am pleased to finally be able to wear some of my fall favorites like my cozy flannel. Flannel on its own can seem a little boring, but paired with leopard high tops... it creates an interesting mix of print. In small doses I have always considered leopard to be a neutral; it plays well with almost everything. I hope everyone is enjoying the changing of seasons as much as I am, and as always thank you for reading.

Midnight Midi

Happy October! Pumpkin flavored everything, Halloween, and changing leaves... October has always been on of my favorite months. This black and navy combination is also going to be another fall favorite of mine. There was a time that I thought that pairing navy with black looked more like a bruise than an acceptable color palette. It is funny how your tastes can change, because now I am hooked. I love the way the two midnight hues play off of each other to add dimension to a head-to-toe dark outfit. In addition to the color combination, I am loving high waisted bottoms paired with crop tops.  Though a little daring... the swingy skirt kept it feeling ladylike. I hope everyone is having a great week, and as always thank you for stopping by!

Fall Floral

A shirt dress in a floral and an oxford shoe in a metallic... I absolutely love pieces that have menswear silhouettes with feminine finishes and prints. I threw on my utility jacket to ward off the fall evening chill, and I ended up loving the contrast created by the olive drab against the silky sheen of my dress. Having fun with fashion is all about mixing ideas, colors, and texture. So don't be afraid to play with your clothes this season. Speaking of seasons, I can't believe it is already the last day of September...with that being said keep on the look out for my new blog design by Fabulous K coming soon. I am so excited for the changes fall can bring! Have a great week and thank you for reading.

Mad for Plaid

Happy Thursday! On my trip in D.C. last week, I did a fair amount of shopping. In every store I strolled though I noticed that tartan and plaid prints are out in full force for fall. Considering I wore a school uniform for all of high school, plaid skirts have never been one of my favorite items. This Zara skirt caught my eye and changed my mind. The plaid stitching has great three dimensional texture and vibrant color that gives it a rich look. Paired with my leather moto jacket and my new favorite metallic heels...I think I have avoided looking too school girl. Thank goodness those days are far behind me. I hope everyone is gearing up for a great weekend! Thanks as always for stopping by.

Leather Love

Hello Everyone! This past weekend I traveled to Washington D.C to visit my boyfriend Rob. While I was in our Nation's Capital there was a hint of fall crispness in the air that I have been eagerly awaiting to arrive in the South. If you look closely at the trees behind me, the leaves were just starting to turn yellow. I was loving it. Walking to dinner I wore this leather pencil skirt and striped shirt with leather sleeves. I really liked how the pairing of the two almost looked like a dress. I also loved how the navy nautical stripe dressed down this otherwise dressed up leather look. Not to mention... black and navy combinations have been really catching my eye lately. I hope everyone is having a great week! Thanks for reading.

Modern Lady

Modern yet timeless is the balance I always try to strike in my wardrobe. To meet the challenge, I am constantly on the lookout for classic silhouettes that have special details. This jacket fits the bill. It has a lady-like appeal, but instead of tweed, the texture is created by an embroidered faux leather. I must admit...I have gone a little leather crazy lately. I guess the first step is admitting you have a problem! This white dress is faux leather from last spring...but leather details are everywhere (and on everything) again this Fall. Great news for those of us who have fully embraced this trend!  I hope everyone is having a great week so far, and as always thank you for reading.
