Cool Blue

Dress: Madewell // Coat: Topshop // Shoes: Zara (similar here and here) // Bag: Celine // Sunnies: Karen Walker

Typically when I purchase a coat I go for something neutral like gray, black, ivory or tan. But for several seasons now, I have been craving pastel outerwear. Enter this cool Wedgewood blue fuzzy topper (last seen here). It instantly makes me feel chic and fashion forward, and I love how it transforms a dark fall outfit. And though this soft blue is not really a neutral, I find that it's cool tone compliments neutrals so well that I am fearless when pairing it with anything and everything.

I hope you are having a great Tuesday. Since it is Veteran's day I wanted to say thank you to all those brave Americans who have served. We must not forget that it is because of their sacrifices that we enjoy the privilege of living in a free nation! So if you run into a Veteran today, don't forget to thank them. Have a wonderful rest of the week, and thank you as always for reading.

Black, White & Red All Over

Sweater: Mason (sold out in black, nude in stock here) // Dress (worn as skirt): Whistles // Shoes: Whistles ( similar here) // Bag: Gucci // Lips: NARS // Sunnies: Karen Walker

Happy Monday!  I wore this dress to Fashion Week and I have been dying to wear it again. So, in an effort to make it seasonally appropriate I had to get a little creative. My favorite way to transition a spring or summer dress to suit the cooler months is to layer on a chunky sweater. The key is to find a sweater that hits just at hip or above so that it doesn't look sloppy or overwhelm the skirt. My Mason sweater is one of my most versatile purchases of the season and perfect for this layered look. This little trick is a great way to make the most out of all of the dresses in your closet.

I hope you are having a great start to the week. Stay tuned soon to TQLC for my holiday gift guide (it is never too early to start, especially since it is already November). Also shop more of my favorites under my newly launched 'Shop' tab above. Thank you as always for reading!

Black & Black

Boots: Stuart Weitzman // Dress: H&M (similar here) // Shirt: J.Crew (old, similar here) // Jacket: Maje (similar here) // Backpack: Whistles (love this brand!) // Sunnies: Karen Walker // Socks: American Apparel (similar here

Happy Friday!! I have discussed numerous times my addiction to wearing a lot of black. I promise I am a cheery person but black goes with everything... I find that I often gravitate towards it when buying basics. So alas, I end up in black from head-to-toe. I found this little black neoprene dress, out of all places at H&M. I love it's structure and dramatic swing shape, and it doesn't get more basic or essential than a LBD. I couldn't resist my usual ways of black with a side of black when it came to my boots and jacket. Speaking of boots, I love my 5050s, but I have been wanting a thigh high pair like the Lowland here. In an effort not to break the bank, I layered my thigh-high socks underneath my over-the-knee favorites, and voila! An instant pair of thigh-high boots! And in my final effort to combat my sea of black (and to avoid looking like Wednesday Adams) I layered a jeweled collar button down under my dress, and decided to tote my trusty metallic backpack. Now I look like Dora the Explorer, with a serious case of chic. I hope you have a great weekend, and thank you as always for reading !!

Cool Classics

Sleeveless trench: Ann Taylor (similar here) // Shoes: c/o Marc Fisher (also love these) // Shirt: Zara (similar here) // Jeans: Topshop // Bag: Gucci // Hat: Hat Attack // Sunnies: Karen Walker

This outfit is all about a new take on the classics. A basic white button down becomes cool with an oversized shape and pockets; a trench coat feels fresh without sleeves. These shoes are also a new classic. Instead of just a basic black bootie, the style is given a modern edge with an open toe and cutouts. An of course, my favorite distressed skinny jeans pull the whole look together... I am a little guilty of wearing them with everything lately. I hope everyone has a great rest of the week, and thank you for stopping by!

What's in my bag with Rue La La

Hello Everyone! Happy Tuesday... Today TQLC is thrilled to introduce you to Rue-La-La's new shopping guide for handbags. I have always considered handbags to be the perfect accessory... they are useful, beautiful, and they always fit (and never pinch your feet like shoes).  This guide has inspired me to share with you my favorites handbags and what I keep inside.

What I carry in my handbag depends on whether I'm headed for a night out or I'm tackling my daily to-do list.  For a night out, I love using a cross body bag so I am hands free. In addition, I make sure I have plenty of lip colors for a touch up, and a little translucent powder to keep away shine. I also always make sure to throw a mini-hand sanitizer in my bag.

For the daytime, I carry everything but the kitchen sink. Some of my favorite essentials include my Mini-mergency Kit (which has everything from a nail file to spot treater) and my Well Kept electronic wipes. These little sanitizing wipes leave my phone super clean and free of bacteria and makeup smudges. They also come in adorable packages that come in a variety of patterns. Just like for a night out, during the day I carry extra makeup and lip colors for touch up, including rosebud salve that can double as a touch up skin balm and lip gloss. During the daytime, I often tote around my headphones (perfect for listening to a little T.Swift 1989). I especially love these chic rose gold pair by Frends

I hope you enjoyed taking a peek inside my handbags... don't forget to sign up for Rue La La to get member's only access to great flash sales on the best designer loot out there. And check out their Handbag Style Guide the next time you are shopping for a new bag!

Thank you to Rue La La for partnering on this post.

Modern Frill

Dress: H&M  // Shoes: Valentino (and here) // Bag: Gucci // Ring: c/o Kendra Scott // Sunnies: Karen Walker // Bracelets: David Yurman and Madewell // Lips: Tom Ford 'Pink Dusk'

Happy Monday! I can't believe it is November, seriously where does the time go? I guess it is true that time flies when you are having fun, because between DC and Dallas these last two weeks, I have had my fair share of excitement and of course a little shopping.  I found this mod dress in Dallas and I couldn't resist it's structured fabric and fun frill. Another thing I couldn't resist, the affordable price point.  I love retailers like H&M, Zara and Mango that make high fashion accessible to everyone. Saving on trendier items allows me to save up for the closet power players on my wish list, like a great pair of shoes and a timeless bag.  I hope everyone is having a great week and thank you as always for reading!

As If

Sweatshirt: Madewell // Skirt: Madewell // Jacket: Maje (similar here) // Boots: Stuart Weitzman // Bag: Whistles // Sunnies: Karen Walker // Lips: Nars 'Yu' // Jewelry: David Yurman // Ring: c/o Kendra Scott

Happy Monday! This look is inspired by one of my favorite movies of all time, Clueless. I re-watched it not too long ago, and I guess the 90s are back, because most everything Cher and Dion were wearing looked right at home in 2014. If you haven't watched it in a while, it is totally worth a girls night in. I loved this skirt and sweatshirt combo... they look perfect paired together, but also are great as separates for fall and into winter. My little silver backpack, helps to play into this fun school girl vibe. I hope everyone has a great beginning to their week, and thank you as always for reading.
